Laptop Lab is underway!

October 24, 2008

After months of work by the Pamela, Lettie, Carly and me, we finally have the Laptop Lab underway!  The Allen County Public Library was awarded an LSTA grant of nearly $15,000 this summer to create an Innovative Library Project.  The Laptop Lab will be a mobile set of nine laptops which can be used by ACPL staff to offer technology programs in our library buildings and around Allen County.  Vince, our new Laptop Lab trainer, is an energetic and innovative guy who is building a curriculum of programs to present, ranging from computer fundamentals to blogging basics.  Be on the lookout for the lab on our events calendar.  ACPL staff who wish to set up any kind of classes are encouraged to call Vince at x1355.  He is home-based at the Shawnee Branch.

I am a Reference Librarian in a public library in Colorado researching information on mobile laptop labs for library instruction. I was wondering where you purchased your lab, ie what type of computers, number, storage etc…
If you could email me back, I’d be interested to know how your program is going. I’d like to get one started ASAP. Thanks!
