One extreme to the other

Here are two interactions I had today while on the reference desk:

Person 1 asked how to get to Google.  He couldn’t find it anymore.  It had been on a page on our website called “Search the Internet” but we changed the page to “Computers and Internet”.  He asked if he should go there from now on, if that was the best way to do it; and I taught him how to type a URL into the address bar.

Person 2 asked for a book and then he showed me a picture of the cover of the book, stored on his Blackberry.  We didn’t have the book, but I thought it was resourceful of him to put it there. 🙂
